To quote my microbiology notes:
“Mycobacterium leprae (leprosy): Grown in armadillos.
Other than to say this sounds really horrible I do not know what else to say. Except–you know where they grow Treponema pallidum (syphillis)? Guess. Come on guess? If you are the first person to tell me I will send you a prize. Seriously. A prize of your very own.

I know the bacterium can’t be grown in artificial media in the lab; it has to be injected into animals. Is that too general to win or do I get me some prizes?
