We have heard the first “I am not your brother anymore!”

June 25, 2006

So my dear oldest who is 5 is fighting with his sister, he is actually hissing at her and menacing her as I am writing this….said when his 2 1/2 year old  would not share her super ball with him said in response to her hogging the ball, "I will not be your brother anymore!" My dear friend, who is pregnant with twins (about to pop ANY day now..very exciting!) just said that her kids say that all the time and I commented that mine have not said that..until now. Who knew  a super ball could cause that much commotion! So much whining and crying. Now my genius son just tried to put the plastic bag our newspaper comes in over his head. Yikes.

It is raining, again, and we can't go to the pool.

Yikes…days like this I must just remember that my primary job is to not kill them or let them die. I think I can handle that. Perhaps not much enrichment today.

What do you do when your kids make you crazy and you can't get out of the house?

Walking in from the rain Monday night, Sam was annoyed that I wouldn’t give him my umbrella (silly me insisting we actually share it) and he put a plastic bag over his head. better dead than wet???

The whole life preservation thing sure does rear its head a lot around here, where the kids seem to have a perverse fascination with thinking it might be okay to bite each other or squash their hands in doors … what IS it with our species?

On rainy days we find that malls quite often have small indoor playgrounds inside – here in Australia at least! Or we go to the grandparents’ house and let them deal with the problem! 😉

you said it! right now being in temp lodging which is like a studio apt. with a 3 yr old and a 21 month old, for a month has got me questioning the little sanity i have left. I have learned to cart both kids plus one bag on one umbrella stroller on a hot day….but what to do when we cant leave…let them jump on the furniture cause its not yours and hope they get tired before they break something or themselves. You blog girl!
